Questions

The things people actually ask.

Short answers to the questions that come up most in the chat. For the full detail on data, see the privacy page.

What is Ted?

A habit coach that lives in WhatsApp. You tell it what you ate or got done, it keeps score, and it closes out the day with a short review. There is no app to install and nothing to log into.

Where is my data?

In storage that Vandy, who runs this beta, controls. No one else using Ted can see it, and none of it is sold or shared. The privacy page lists exactly what is kept, who processes it, and how long it stays.

How do I delete everything?

Send delete my data in the chat. Ted asks you to confirm once, and then everything it has stored about you goes: profile, targets, reminders, and every logged meal, workout and daily entry. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

Two things need a word from you as well, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. Photos and voice notes you sent, and Ted’s own record of the conversation, sit on the machine that runs Ted; ask in the chat and Vandy removes them by hand.

One thing nobody can hurry. That machine backs itself up every night and keeps the last fourteen copies, so your data can sit in a backup for up to two weeks after you delete it, then ages out for good. Backups are deliberately not edited, because one that can be reached into is not a backup.

Do I have to count calories?

No. Ted asks six short questions to work out a daily number, and you can say no to all of them — “skip”, “I don’t want to count calories”, or just “rehne do”. Ted records that as a decision and carries on to the rest without it. Everything else still works.

How do I make it stop?

Say pause. The nudges stop from that moment, not after a confirmation. If you name a length Ted uses it — “till 8pm”, “a few hours”, “two weeks”, “till Monday” — and says the day or the hour back so you can correct it. If you name nothing, Ted takes a week and tells you the date it will knock again.

When the break ends Ted says hello, lists the reminders you had, and asks whether you want to keep them.

Can I change my reminder times?

Yes, any time, just say so in the chat. A time you name is the time it fires; Ted never shifts it to spread the load.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Ted is a private beta run by one person, and there is no paid tier, no card and no trial that ends.

Who can use it?

Adults only, 18 and over. Ted asks your age early and will not give calorie targets or numbers to anyone under 18.

Is Ted a doctor?

No, and it will not pretend to be one. It does not diagnose, treat, or handle emergencies. If something is wrong, talk to a clinician.

Something went wrong. Who do I tell?

Say this is for Vandy at the start of a message and Ted passes it on rather than coaching you about it. If a reply was simply bad, say so in the chat and it gets recorded for review.

Ted is a habit coach, not a doctor. Do not use it for emergencies, diagnosis, or treatment.
